A conference call has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon involving the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and the Governors of its 12 teams to discuss whether or not to continue with the 2018 Playoffs.
The post-season has been suspended since Friday’s tragic crash involving the Broncos’ team bus and a truck-tractor unit as Humboldt was heading to Nipawin for Game 5 of a best-of-seven semi-final series. Of the 29 people on the bus, 15 were killed, 12 remain in hosptial with varying degrees of injury and two others have been released from care. Nipawin leads the series 3-1 with the Estevan Bruins having already qualified for the final…a series that is slated to begin this weekend. Should the playoffs continue, the SJHL champion would meet the Manitoba League winner in the Anavet Cup later this month with that best-of-seven winner advancing to the Royal Bank Cup national tournament.
