The city of Weyburn has been named by MoneySense Magazine as the best city in the Prairies to live in.
The magazine takes an annual survey of 415 Canadian cities looking at things like affordability, population and growth, weather and taxes.
Weyburn topped all other Prairie cities coming in 33rd and was one of four Saskatchewan centres in the top 100.
Saskatoon was ranked 60th, Estevan at 93 and Regina at 97.
The best place to live overall, according to MoneySense, is Ottawa.
Weyburn’s mayor Marcel Roy is surprised to see Weyburn as the only Saskatchewan city in the top 50 but adds they have a lot of good things going for them like an economy that wasn’t as affected by the downturn in the oil and gas industry, because businesses were sharing personnel and helping each other out, which highlights the city’s sense of community.
