Mitch Love didn’t get the result he wanted Wednesday…both for the Saskatoon Blades and for himself!
An original playing member in Everett and an assistant coach with the Silvertips the previous seven seasons, Love’s new team came up short in a 3-0 loss at SaskTel Centre.
Dustin Wolf, who has played every second of all 13 games in goal for the ‘Tips, made 23 saves for his first shutout of the season. He got offensive support from Akash Bains…on a first period power play…Dawson Butt and Riley Sutter…the latter into an empty net…as Everett improved their record to 8-5-0. The Silvertips are 2-2-0 on their six-game East Division road trip.
The Bridge City Bunch fell to 8-4-1 for the season, out-shot 31-23 in front of 3,029 fans. They were continually frustrated by the ‘Tips smothering style of play in the neutral zone and ability to force the Blue and Gold into mistakes at the Everett blue-line. The Blades managed just three shots on goal on five power play attempts…including just one shot on a four-minute man advantage in the third period.
Saskatoon goes on the road for three games-in-three days in Alberta this weekend…Friday in Red Deer, Saturday at Edmonton and a late Sunday afternoon visit to Calgary. All games will be broadcast on 98-COOL. Following is the official summary from the W-H-L…
