The gyms and fitness centres at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic campuses in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Moose Jaw will remain open while the school considers a new wellness strategy.
They were closed last June when competitive sports teams were cut and the school laid off the seven staff members associated with them.
The school accepted the recommendation from its Wellness Steering Committee to re-open the gyms and fitness centres two months later.
Associate Vice President of Student Services Tobi Strohan says separate teams working with themes of life, mind, body and community have made recommendations toward the new strategy.
Strohan says they are being compiled and shared with the steering committee and is confident there will be a new strategy in place for the next academic year.
In the meantime the gyms and fitness centres will remain open this coming semester.
