The entire province of Saskatchewan is under an extreme cold alert and it is reflected in the bus cancellations rolling in.
All School buses in the Saskatoon Public Schools are cancelled today (thurs) due to the extreme cold temperatures. The wind chill at 7 AM, which is when the determination to cancel is made, was at -50 degrees Celsius.
The public school cancellation includes all Hertz, First Student and LP3 buses. The cancellation is in effect for the entire day. All schools are open and classes are running as scheduled.
For the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools bus service has been cancelled for elementary school students which is pre-kindergarten to Grade 8, in Saskatoon, Warman and Martensville.
It also includes high school students from Martensville and Warman who are bused to Bishop James Mahoney High School and intensive needs high school buses in Saskatoon.
Elsewhere the BJ Wolfe Bus No. 363 is not running in Biggar. All Prairie Spirit School Division buses are cancelled today for routes and charters.
Witchekan Lake First Nation School is closed today. No buses, no staff, no students.
Regina is also reporting school bus cancellations.
Beardy’s school buses are not running but the schools are open today.
