Sunday is Green Shirt Day in Canada to inspire Canadians to talk to their families about registering as organ donors. It’s in honour of Logan Boulet, a member of the Humboldt Broncos defensive line who died a day after the tragic crash on April 6th. He told his family he wanted to be an organ donor and because of that, six other lives were saved. When people found out about his decision, what came about is now called the “Logan Boulet Effect” with more than 100-thousand people signing up as organ donors.
Saturday the Humboldt Broncos flag was raised in Saskatoon’s Civic Square to fly for a week. The sculpture Prairie Wind at River Landing and SaskTel Centre are also lit up green in honour of Green Shirt Day. The mayors have declared today Green Shirt day in Saskatoon and Humboldt.
