The Saskatoon Airport Authority set a record for passengers in 2018.
C-E-O Stephen Maybury attributes the figure of over 1.5 million in part to the popularity of Saskatoon as a destination for tourists and business people.
Maybury lists the curbside renovations for private and commercial vehicles in addition to the four-tiered parking plan as among improvements last year to the facility.
He says with 13 early morning flights daily they need to add space to park the number of planes needed and restoration of runway number two is included in the capital improvement plan.
Maybury figures renovations to the departures lounge including self-serve bag drop should be done by the end of the year.
According to the 2018 annual report, the airport authority brought in 33-million dollars in revenue last year with expenditures of 24-million and as a non-profit enterprise that operates without government subsidies, the excess will be invested back into the facility.
The Saskatoon airport is ranked second across Canada for on-time performance as 84-percent of flights left within 15 minutes of departure times while an independent survey ranked Saskatoon third in overall satisfaction.
