After almost 9 years, residents of Craik can now turn on the taps and not have to boil it before drinking it. The community about 140 kilometres south of Saskatoon celebrated Clean Water Day this past Saturday after almost 9 nears of being on a boil water advisory, which began in August of 2019.
The federal government paid half for the clean water program which included fixing the water treatment plant, the province and the municipality split the other half. Mayor David Ashdown says they can now do things they couldn’t do during the advisory, like subdivide property and encourage new residents to move to that community of about 400 people. Craik can also turn its attention to other projects like street improvements and a program of economic-social development.
