A storm that rolled through Saskatoon Sunday afternoon brought localized pea sized hail. That’s according to Environment Canada Meteorologist, Terri Lang.
She says they received reports of pea sized hail in the city, although it wasn’t reported everywhere in the Saskatoon area. Lang adds the storm which caused some localized flooding wasn’t considered severe.
At the Saskatoon airport, .5 millimetres was recorded, while other volunteer weather stations in and around the city received up to 21.1 millimetres of rain.
Lang adds in order for a storm to be considered severe in regards to rainfall amounts, 50 millimetres have to fall within an hour.
Quarter sized hail was recorded Sunday just a few miles south of Kipling and in Corning, which is approximately 136 kilometres southeast of Regina.
