A new IPSOS poll is not throwing any cold water on the talk of western separation. The poll taken late last month asked 15 hundred Canadians across Canada if the country is more divided than ever with 60 percent nationally saying yes. In Alberta and Saskatchewan, that number is close to 80 percent. Kyle Braid with Ipsos says one thing which startled him was that there is more support for separation here than in Quebec, a province which has often talked about separation. In Quebec, 26 per cent voted for separation where 33 per cent of those polled in Alberta and 27 per cent in Saskatchewan felt they would be better of splitting from the rest of the country. 70 percent of from both Alberta and Saskatchewan say the result of last month’s election in which the federal Liberals were given a second mandate to govern left them disappointed.
