Aboriginal Storytelling Month will feature over 250 events.
The province’s Indigenous oral history will be recited in libraries, schools and community centres throughout Saskatchewan.
Coordinator Carol Vandale feels libraries provide the perfect venue for Elders and others to tell the stories that have been handed down for generations.
She says the stories are an excellent way to learn about Indigenous culture told in a unique way that can be captivating, entertaining and diverse.
Close to 15-thousand people took in about 400 events featuring around 75 storytellers in 2018 as the series of sessions head into their 17th year.
The month wraps up with an Indigenous Storytellers Workshop February 29th at Station West in Saskatoon.
Saskatchewan based practitioners will bring new and emerging storytellers to learn how to share their stories with audiences and celebrate the oral storytelling tradition.
