The spring ice break-up along the North Saskatchewan has caused the City of Prince Albert to issue a warning to people in the area. Higher than normal water levels has caused flooding along the riverbank at Little Red River Park and various places along the Rotary Trail. The city says the river rose to a depth of about 6.6 metres at around 11:20 Sunday morning.
Wes Hicks, Director of Public Works says, that was the peak and the water seems to have been steadily declining since then. He says there has been some damage to sections of Rotary Trail but the extent will have to be assessed over the coming days.
The sight has drawn people to the riverbank for a look, so the city is reminding people to not gather in crowds and to maintain distances of two meters between one-another. The Park and boat launch are closed to the public.
