Over 1000 solar panels will be installed as part of the largest solar array built in urban Saskatchewan, at a CNH Industrial site on 71st street in Saskatoon.

The project will be in partnership with the Saskatchewan Environmental Society’s Solar Co-op. To date, this will be the SES Solar Co-op’s 7th project in the city.  Michael Nemeth, Vice President with the SES Sola Co-op, says in our sunny province we have the greatest solar resource in the country, providing a world class opportunity to build resilience into our energy infrastructure, for us and future generations.  The SES Solar Co-op estimates an average of 2267 hours of sunlight each year in the province.

CNH Industrial is one of the largest manufacturers of industrial goods and the project is expected to produce 375 kilowatts from the 1000 solar panels.  Nemeth says it will be 10 times the size of previous projects, and the nature of the hook up will be unique, as all energy will be on site with no net metering required.  SES Solar Co-op is currently selling shares in the project, with the hope that construction will be completed later in the year.

Nemeth says in total the SES Solar Co-op currently has over 500 solar panels currently installed since 2014.  The panels produce 182 kilowatts that add up to almost 200,000 kilowatts per year.  He says their goal is to triple the generation capacity with this project.
