The Saskatchewan NDP have put together a plan based on post Covid-19 recovery.
NDP Leader Ryan Meili and Finance Critic Trent Wotherspoon revealed the plan Thursday at the Saskatchewan Legislature. The NDP say their recovery plan would see the government address overcrowding in classrooms, investments in mental health treatment, the end of hallway medicine, supporting seniors with the best home care in Canada, and fixing what they call a crumbling infrastructure.
Part of the plan also includes raising the minimum wage to $15/hour and ensuring the building of schools and hospitals, in the province, are being built by Saskatchewan companies and Saskatchewan workers.
Meili says it is time to ensure all residents of rural Saskatchewan have access to high-speed internet and to encourage new industries through Renew Saskatchewan, the New Democrats plan, he adds, will support families, businesses and municipalities to produce clean energy and retrofit existing buildings, he says this would bolster the economy by creating jobs and making power more affordable for people and businesses.
