A High Water Summer For Saskatchewan Lakes And Rivers

High river and lake levels can be expected for the rest of the summer according to the Water Security Agency.
It’s expected the mainstem of the Churchill River will have high flows through fall and winter as well.
A report from the WSA says northern Saskatchewan has had a large amount of rain since April 1st, and most of it in the last 2 months.
On top of that, much of the central portion of the province has received record or near record rainfall in the past 2 months as well.
Spiritwood, which is about 27 kilometres north of Meeting Lake, received 14 millimetres of rain last Saturday and has recorded 247 millimetres since April 1st.
The WSA says Meeting Lake is full and water is flowing into its outlet channel and the Association is suggesting berms should be built around the lake.
