School zones just got a lot busier after 6 months away, because of moving to virtual classes originally because of the pandemic.
SGI’s Tyler McMurchy reminds everyone to slow down to the posted speed limit.
The penalties are more than a regular ticket.
For example, going 20 km/h over means a $310 ticket and 3 demerit points, and the faster you are going, the more your ticket will cost.
He emphasizes though that the biggest reason to slow down it to keep kids safe.
McMurchy adds that if a bus is stopped with red lights flashing and arm extended, those following or approaching the bus must come to a complete stop and wait until the lights stop flashing and the arm is pulled in, or you could get a $360 ticket and 4 demerits.
He also reminds drivers to watch out for kids crossing the road, and not make a u-turn in school zones.
