The SEIU-West bargaining team has served notice of impasse to the Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety. Members have been without a contract since March 31st, 2017. They say there has been a lack of meaningful, good faith bargaining from the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations. The union previously asked for a Special Mediator and the Minister of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Don Morgan, appointed the Executive Director, Labour Relations and Conciliation Services to assist.
SEIU-West says a deadline for SAHO to respond to the union’s latest offer passed, with SAHO indicating they would not respond due to the election.
SEIU-West President Barbara Cape says waiting over 12 hundred days for a fair contract offer is much too long. She says there may have to be a reduction in some non-essential services in the future should the situation continue to escalate
