The city of Saskatoon is reviewing if it would be feasible to postpone the civic election.
Returning election officer Scott Bastian says there were delays in opening two polling stations but most are opening this morning.
Bastian says they are currently reviewing options on whether to postpone the election or add an extra day to make up for time lost. He says in a city this size there are 65 polling stations and requires about 600 election workers to make things go, so they currently looking at what options could be feasible. The provincial government authorized municipalities and school divisions to postpone their elections earlier this morning.
Bastian explains work has been done to get people to polls Monday morning. For school locations, facility staff were out clearing snow, while the city has been clearing routes to polling stations.
Bastian says if an extra day were added to the election, the current concerns are that classes would be back in session at schools and there would need to be enough election workers to return another day. Bastian says this process is being reviewed and another definitive update is due up this afternoon.
