BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions unveiled its new formulation, packaging and distribution facility on Wednesday.
More than $14 million was invested in the upgrades that took two years to complete. The Regina facility will produce over half of BASF Canada’s crop protection products.
“The transformed facility will enable us to produce more than 30 million litres (of products) annually,” said Jonathan Sweat, BASF Canada vice president, business management.
Major enhancements include upgrades to mechanical operations, automation systems, quality control and safety protocols and performance.
During the peak production period—which generally runs from fall to early spring—the facility will employ approximately 130 people. BASF also says the upgrades will allow them to deliver products to retailers quickly, in many cases within a 24 hour period.
