Correctional Services Canada says that on Tuesday, Steven Morrisseau, an inmate at Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert, died while in custody.
Morrisseau had been serving a life sentence for Second Degree Murder and Contempt of Court since May 10, 2019.
His next of kin have been notified.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Corrections will review the circumstances. Police and the coroner have been notified.
