The annual cargo volume was 10.2 million tonnes, including 9.2 million tonnes of grain.
The last of the more than 150 foreign ‘saltie’ vessels departed the Great Lakes port on Tuesday.
Several factors led to the higher grain movement, including large carryover from the 2019 and a sharp increase in grain exports during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Much of the success in 2020 is attributable to the port’s strategic position as Western Canada’s gateway to Eastern markets for grain,” started the port authority in a news release.
