The Saskatoon Fire Department says there was heavy black smoke when they arrived at a house fire shortly before 6:30 yesterday (sun) evening in the 300 block of Avenue J South. The caller to 911 didn’t know if anyone was inside and firefighters quickly made entry through both front and back doors.
While fire officials indicate that they were completing searches for occupants as per standard practice, there was no word on whether anyone was, in fact, inside.
The fire was declared under control at 6:53 p.m. and while the damage estimate is $100,000, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. (vmf March 8/21)
