Fourteen new firefighter paramedics have officially joined the Saskatoon Fire Department.
At a small live-streamed ceremony on Friday, the new recruits were presented with their badges. The recruitment process which began in October included an application process, agility tests and multiple interviews made up of fire and city officials. Fire Chief Morgan Hackl says the group proved they were up for the task, successfully completing their recruitment training, with COVID-19 safety precautions and demonstrating impressive skills and dedication.
All 14 are certified to the level of Primary Care Paramedic and are licensed through the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics. As firefighter paramedics, the Saskatoon Fire Department says the are trained, prepared and experienced in operating effectively on high-hazard emergency scenes.
