Manitoba RCMP have entered into a massive investigation into allegations of sexual abuse at the Fort Alexander Residential School. The gathering of information into the case actually began in 2010. Officers went to Ottawa to review available archival records regarding the Alexander Residential School.
Thousands of documents were examined. Investigators then began canvassing people whose names had appeared in the papers.
Officers spoke to, or interacted with, more than 700 people across North America trying to locate any possible victims or witnesses.
Seventy-five witness and victim statements were obtained by police.
Police say there have been more than 680 investigational tasks identified and completed so far and more than 80 RCMP investigators have been involved.
