The Lung Association’s Tackle Radon campaign is back for a third season. This year, Tackle Radon has expanded to include all three prairie provinces. Former Saskatchewan Roughrider, Andrew Greene is part of the roster for season 3 of the Tackle Radon roster which consists of both current and former CFL players. Greene says his grandfather, who never smoked, passed away at the age of 76 from lung cancer, although they don’t know how he got lung cancer. Radon exposure happens to be the second leading cause of lung cancer. Greene along with the other CFL members will be encouraging families across the prairies to test their homes for radon during the campaign which runs until December 15th. During that time, an online auction will take place from November 19th to December 6th which will feature sports memorabilia and services such as radon mitigations with the proceeds going to support the Lung Association. Greene says he wants to protect his community and his young kids. “You can smell it (radon), you can’t taste it, you just breath it in, it causes damage over a period of time and I’m just looking out for their (his kids) future.” Greene adds the radioactive can enter your home through any location that is connected to the ground. Trevor Harris, a quarterback with the Montreal Alouettes, Winnipeg Blue Bomber Adam Bighill and Calvin McCarty of the Calgary Stampeders are the other members of the Tackle Radon team. Radon test kits can be ordered online at TackleRadon.ca.
