A non-profit collaborative centre in Saskatoon is celebrating 20 years of delivering essential services and support to the Saskatoon community.
The Saskatoon Community Service Village is located downtown on 25th Street and is home to six non-profit organizations including Family Service Saskatoon, the YWCA of Saskatoon, United Way of Saskatoon and Area, the Saskatoon Sexual Assault and Information Centre, Prairie Hospice Society and CFS Saskatoon.
Founding member, Marcia Clark says the Village provides combined services to meet and enhance clients needs which include counselling services, early learning centres, workshops for parents, teens and children along with support services.
“It (the village) offers a wide range of now of programs and services. Everything from daycare to crisis services to shelter, personal and professional counselling.”
Clark adds there are multiple words that can describe the Village adding that it’s a haven and a safe place.
“It’s a helping place for all kinds of people within the community and it provides community leadership and social planning.”
Recently the Saskatoon Crisis Intervention Service moved out of the Village and the Prairie Hospice Society moved in.
