The Fire Investigator was able to confirm that the occupant from the fire that occurred on New Year’s Eve in the 400 block of Avenue R South has been located.

When firefighters arrived, the home was completely ablaze. As well as attacking the fire, some firefighters protected the neighbouring buildings and their efforts were hindered by the water freezing.

A portion of the home had to be immediately taken down with an excavator because a wall was at risk of failing due to the weight of the water freezing on it.

The Saskatoon Fire Department says the one unaccounted occupant in the 400 Block of Avenue R South fire is safe, not injured and rehoused.
