Loblaw has confirmed the closure will occur on April 23^rd. It is the only grocery store in the Nutana neighborhood with the nearest competitors located some distance away at Cumberland Avenue and 8^th Street. Saskatoon city councilor Cynthia Block represents the area. In a post on Twitter, she calls the “decision devastating news for the neighborhood.” She is hoping a smaller grocer may be able to come in and fill the gap. Reports indicate the store employs 30 people, with the vast majority part-time.
