A local Conservative Member of Parliament has introduced a private members bill to prohibit Holocaust denial through an amendment to the Criminal Code.

Saskatoon-Grasswood MP Kevin Waugh says “ignorance fuels intolerance, so we must continue to teach the truths of the past.”

From early 1941 until spring 1945, six million Jewish men, women and children were killed in Nazi concentration camps.

The legislation would make Holocaust denial, one of the main indicators of antisemitism and radicalization, illegal in Canada.
