Sixteen U.S. Governors along with the Premiers of Saskatchewan and Alberta have sent letters to President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau requesting that vaccine and quarantine exemptions for cross border truck drivers be reinstated.
The letter says the timing of the decision to terminate the exemptions couldn’t have been worse with North America facing grave supply chain constraints, which, combined with increasing inflation, places significant burdens on the residents of both countries. The Premiers and the Governors say they understand the vital importance of vaccines in the fight against COVID-19 and they continue to encourage everyone to get vaccinated, however they are concerned the exemptions has already had negative impacts on the North American supply chain, the cost of living, and access to essential products.
