If you saw a bright light in the sky Wednesday night or early Thursday, which looked like a fast moving, big star, you were probably looking at the International Space Station.
That’s according to the president of Saskatoon’s Royal Astronomical Society, Michael Dolan, who says NASA’s “spot the station” website confirms that it would have been in the area at that time.
A Duck Lake man called the CJWW newsroom Thursday morning and wanted to know what he had seen.
Michael Dolan from the Astronomical Society adds that the ISS can be seen over Saskatchewan every 90 minutes, when it’s in our path.
The link to the NASA website is with this story online.
Dolan’s advice for anyone who wants to have a better look at the stars is to get away from the lights.
He says, “All you need to do is get outside the city just a little bit. Take a pair of binoculars and that’s all you really need to get started.”
Dolan adds that during the pandemic, the RAS had to stop doing their monthly star gazing events, but he hopes that will begin again soon.
