The Global Institute for Water Security on the USask campus reports on its website that Saskatoon’s viral RNA load for COVID-19 rose by almost ten per cent in the week leading up to March 2nd, compared to the previous week. Omicron continues to be the dominant variant at just over 78 per cent, and the variant of Omicron known as BA.2 is 19 per cent of the overall viral load.
In the week leading up to February 26th, North Battleford’s wastewater has seen an increase of COVID by almost 36 per cent. The original Omicron variant takes up almost 44 per cent of the count and its cousin, BA.2 is at 49 per cent.
Meanwhile, the viral load in Prince Albert’s wastewater went down by 10 per cent. Omicron is the dominant variant at almost 94 per cent and its variant, BA.2 is just under three per cent.
