SaskTel’s budget for this year includes $337-million to advance broadband and wireless technologies. President and CEO Doug Burnett says the investment program includes over $82-million for fibre optic infrastructure to homes and businesses to power SaskTel infiNET service, which means subscribers can surf, stream and share however much content they want at high speeds.
Over $110-million is for 5G deployment and wireless network enhancements. Burnett notes that the Crown Corporation’s wireless network provides service to more than 99 per cent of Saskatchewan’s population. Over $79-million is budgeted for wireline network growth and enhancements, including maxTV. The budget also sets aside almost $65-million to improve customer services and operations through continued investment in Information Technology and Information Systems platforms and service enhancements.
