Saskatchewan’s NDP Opposition Leader indicated Wednesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Ryan Meili says he is the last in his family to test positive and so far has had the fewest symptoms.
This past Monday Meili shared that his son Gus landed in Pediatric Emergency on day five of having COVID-19 after waking up in pain and crying.
Meili, himself a doctor, said Gus had viral myositis which is muscle inflammation that occurs secondary to the virus but was bad enough that the four-year-old couldn’t walk.
In addition to the muscle inflammation Meili says Gus’s and levels of an enzyme in his blood were high enough to risk damaging his kidney’s.
Meili thanked the community for reaching out with kind words and offers of help.
