Bronwyn Eyre says the Saskatchewan government just wants the federal government to utilize the provinces resources sector properly.
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General was speaking at an NSBA luncheon in Saskatoon Thursday and the theme of her address was “Standing up for Saskatchewan”. Essentially she was explaining the Province’s stance on seeking out more autonomy for Saskatchewan.
There were a number of policies discussed as examples of the two levels of government not fully agreeing and Eyre says the provincial government needs to build a stronger relationship with the federal government..
The Attorney general touched on the resource sector and some of the damage that has been done because of the federal mandates. She says it is something that needs to change because our province has less of an environmental footprint than most of the world.
“We are asking the federal government to be, to be proud of us, of our resource sectors amazing record, of our trade sector, our ag sector and really help promote what we do for the world, not thwart it at every turn.”
The message was that Saskatchewan wants to make as much of an impact as possible in Canada’s economy and has had the past success to prove it.
