A Regina man is facing numerous charges in connection to a firearms investigation. The Regina Police Service notified the public on Friday afternoon of an ongoing police operation in the 400 block of Froom Crescent. Officers executed a search warrant at a home in that block, acting in the belief there were firearms in the home. The Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) assisted.
Police say initially the people inside refused to come out but eventually complied with demands, and among them was a 34 year old man wanted on a warrant out of British Columbia on charges of aggravated assault. He was taken into custody and police report seizing a loaded, sawed-off .22 calibre rifle, as well as a bag with various types of ammunition.
The charges for 34 year old Eric Philip Stevens of Regina include possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited, restricted firearm with ammunition and four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to an order.
