The Snowbirds are grounded again due to safety issues. At the height of airshow season, the air demonstration team announced Wednesday they were taking an indefinite operational pause. It was ordered by the Commander of 1 Canadian Air Division,
An operational pause means the fleet of aircraft will not fly until an operational airworthiness risk assessment can be completed. The cause of an accident August 2nd in Fort St. John remains under investigation.
CT-114 Tutor jets are flown by the Snowbirds, based out of CFB Moose Jaw and are almost 60 years old.
This after what has been described as crash landing and a hard landing, at Fort St. John August 2nd, when a spare Tutor jet came down right after take off. The pilot didn’t suffer any physical injuries but the Tutor jet did suffer damage.
This mean the Snowbirds will not be able to perform at Air Show Atlantic, 27-28 August in Debert, Nova Scotia. More information will be provided on future performances as it becomes available.
