September is Milk Month at the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
The organization is looking to raise $100,000 dollars over the course of the month to ensure a litre of fresh milk is provided for every child visiting the organization.
Canpotex is partnering with the Food Bank for a sixth year and this year they stepped up by providing $50,000 in a matching campaign.
Deborah Hamp with the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre says another organization has also stepped up to the plate.
“Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan has also stepped up again with a very generous donation of $10,000 to kick-off the campaign, and so with the cost of inflation, the rising milk prices, we are really hoping for a successful month.”
In 2021, the food bank distributed 68,363 litres of milk through the Milk for Children program.
The program also supports pregnant and nursing women in Saskatoon and area.
Cheques can be mailed to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre or dropped off during their business hours.
Hamp says the easiest way to donate is by doing so on the Food Bank’s website.
