The Saskatoon Fire Department was kept busy throughout the night and into Monday morning having rescued two females from the South Saskatchewan River in two separate incidents.
Shortly after 3:30a.m., fire crews responded to a female in the water under the Circle Drive Bridge after receiving word from police.
Once on scene, firefighters located the female in distress just north of the bridge. One member of the water rescue team was tied securely to the shore as they went in to rescue the person in distress.
Fire crews then pulled the tethered pair into shore. An ambulance then came to the scene to provide care. No injuries were reported.
Then shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday morning, firefighters responded to a report of a female in the river hanging onto a log near Ravine Drive.
The first arriving crew reached the female’s location at 6:55 a.m. and returned her safely to shore where she was transferred into the hands of paramedics.
Fire personnel in both incidents were accounted for and the respective crews returned to their stations.
