A man was saved by firefighters from a Loraas garbage truck this morning (fri).
In a news release, the Saskatoon Fire Department says they received an automatic alert from an ambulance service about a man trapped the bin of a garbage truck in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South.
Once crews arrived around 6 o’clock, they found a male inside the bin of an automated garbage truck. Fire crews assisted the person out. No automatic tools were needed.
The driver was alerted about the person in the bin by hearing him yell out. The driver then stopped and identified a person was in the bin through the truck’s camera.
Paramedics then assessed the man and fire crews returned to their station. It’s unclear if the man was homeless or searching for recyclables.
