Saskatchewan is the first province to mark a treaty boundary on a Provincial highway. A sign which marks the boundary between Treaty 4 and 6 has gone up on Highway 11 near Bladworth.
The sign will display an image of a Treaty medal provided by Indigenous leadership, wording from the Original Treaties and welcoming words in respective Indigenous languages.
Minister for First Nations, Metis and Northern affairs Don McMorris says “The treaty boundary signage, complements Treaty education in our province to continue moving forward together towards meaningful and lasting reconciliation efforts in Saskatchewan.”
