The President of the Canadian Space Agency congratulates NASA and the European Space Agency on the successful conclusion of the Artemis I mission. NASA’s Orion capsule splashed down yesterday (Sun) after an almost 26 day mission around the Moon. Lisa Campbell says, “This flight is the result of many years of hard work by a dedicated team whose efforts have helped usher in a new era of deep-space exploration.” She explains that this is the first of a multi-mission campaign aimed at bringing sustainable human presence to the Moon’s orbit and its surface, so this mission laid the foundation for the future of human exploration into deep space, and ultimately human missions to Mars.
In 2024, A Canadian Space Agency astronaut will fly around the Moon as part of Artemis II, the first crewed mission of the Artemis program.
