A 39-year-old inmate died in his cell overnight at the Regina Correctional Centre.
The inmate—who was on remand—was found unresponsive. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful and the man was declared dead at 1:26am on Wednesday.
The RCMP and the Provincial Coroners Service are investigating. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also be conducting an internal investigation.
No foul play is suspected at this time. The inmate’s family has been notified.
