In a social media post the Saskatoon SPCA says their staff and volunteers, and their foster families, are grieving the loss of several puppies to Parvovirus.

The SPCA says it has procedures in place to prevent the spread of the disease which includes vaccinations and cleaning products but unfortunately diseases like Parvovirus aren’t detectable until the incubation period has passed.

Puppies are vulnerable to Parvo until they have received their full vaccination series.

The SPCA wants to stress the message to all pet owners the importance of keeping pets up to date on vaccines, not only will it protect a furry family member, but it will prevent spread of disease in the community.
