More than a dozen neighbourhoods in the Saskatoon will receive a green cart and kitchen starter kits starting Monday.
The list of who is receiving the carts and when can be found here.
This is part of the voluntary green cart program switching to a mandatory city-wide organics program with the cost of waste removal becoming a utility as opposed to being part of property taxes.
Those who had already subscribed to the green cart program in years past will continue to use the green cart they already have but will receive a kitchen pail starter kit.
Actual pick up of green carts won’t start till May and they will be picked up in the same place as your recycling and regular garbage. In years prior for those who voluntarily subscribed to the green cart, if they had back alley pick up of blue and black carts, the green carts were picked up on the front street. Now those with back alley pick up will see the green cart move to the back alley.
The first neighbourhoods to receive a green cart include: Aspen Ridge, Evergreen, Forest Grove, Silverspring, University Heights, Willowgrove, Avalon, Buena Vista, Exhibition, Queen Elizabeth, The Willows, Nutana, Adelaide/Churchill.
