Timely upgrades and replacements to the Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre are at hand.
Built in 1975, the Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre will close to the public after this Friday, with the major upgrade to take anywhere from 18 to 24 months to complete. Many of the components of the facility are nearing the end of their functional life with the replacement, upgrades and new spaces to cost between 18 and 24 million dollars. They include replacement of the 50-metre pool basin, changeroom and washroom renovation, new meeting and multi-purpose rooms, a revised and updated weight room, water treatment and building mechanical system upgrades, roof and exterior upgrades plus upgrades and changes to the administration offices. The same programs and services available at the Harry Bailey Aquatic Centre will continue to be available at the other five leisure centres, with programming expanded, where possible, at the Cosmo, Lakewood and Lawson Civic Centres, Saskatoon Field House and Shaw Centre.
