Average bids were higher in every weight category for feeder steers and heifers last week.
Canfax reports 8,419 head of Saskatchewan feeder cattle were sold—nearly identical to the previous week’s number.
The smallest average increase was $1.61 per hundredweight for 800–900-pound steers and the highest was $10.50 per hundredweight for 500-600 pound steers.
Heifer bids ranged from $1.15 higher for 800-pounds-and-over to an average of $5.10 per hundredweight for 500–600-pound heifers.
Price for live, non-fed cattle in Alberta were also higher. The average bid for D2 slaughter cows was $139.86 per hundredweight, an increase of $9.44 from the previous week. The average price for D3 slaughter cows was $5.79 higher to $121.71 per hundredweight.
