Businesses, groups and individuals are banding together to help out various organizations today (Wed) for the United Way of Saskatoon and area 23rd annual Day of Caring. The United Way’s local Director of Resource Development, Jon Davis, says it gets bigger every year. They have over 200 volunteers this year working on 21 projects helping out 15 organizations.
It’s the sixth year for Saskatchewan Blue Cross to be a sponsor and the staff are working on two projects. One is renovating the YWCA women’s shelter healing lodge and doing some upkeep outside, including planting some flowers with the residents. The other is renovations at Prairie Harm Reduction.
Picnics, special dinners, painting projects, kits for kids, planning excursions and outdoor projects are also on today’s list. Davis says anyone who wants to know more about the United Way or who wants to volunteer any time of the year can call them or look for volunteer opportunities on their website.
