There was a train derailment near Perdue on Sunday. The Transportation Safety Board says 19 intermodal cars derailed and none were carrying dangerous goods. The derailed cars also blocked the railway crossing which area residents say was being worked on in recent weeks. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is sending a team of investigators to the site of the train derailment. There were no reported injuries.
There was also a train derailment in Lloydminster Sunday involving locomotives of a CP Rail train which impacted traffic in the city. City of Lloydminster officials say two locomotives moving at slow speeds derailed Sunday morning while operating at the Lloydminster rail yard. There were no injuries. The locomotives remained upright and were re-railed later Sunday.
One locomotive’s fuel tank was damaged resulting a spill of diesel fuel. Environmental crews responded to clean-up the spill. The City of Lloydminster is working with CP rail’s environmental crews to ensure remediation meets provincial standards.
