The Executive Director of the Friendship Inn says 65 turkeys are on the menu for their annual Thanksgiving Day meal on Monday. Although they have enough, Sandra Kary says they welcome turkey donations because they cook them all through the year. As far as food donations for this meal, Kary believes it is all taken care of except they could use more pies.
The Friendship Inn volunteers and staff are preparing for up to 2,000 people at its Thanksgiving feast. Kary notes that they serve breakfast and lunch every day of the year and along with dine-in, there is also the option for take away service. Volunteers for Thanksgiving have already been confirmed, but individuals or groups are welcome to volunteer any other day.
Kary says the Friendship Inn is seeing more people in need coming through their doors. On any given day, they serve between 1,200 and 1,500 meals. The annual report cites that in their fiscal year which ends on June 30th, they served about 30 per cent more meals than they originally projected with a total of 402,797.
